Latvian news portal Delfi, a key subsidiary of the Baltic media giant AS Ekspress Grupp, is facing a €200,000 claim from SIA Ekis & Co-Positioning and Consulting over a contractual dispute tied to advertising services on news portal LA.lv.
Ekspress Grupp emphasized that this is a standard commercial disagreement over contested invoices, not a sign of financial trouble. Delfi has requested verification of the invoicing calculations and is pursuing resolution through normal legal channels, asserting that insolvency proceedings are inappropriate.
“The dispute has no impact on Delfi Latvia’s day-to-day operations,” the company said, noting that the matter does not materially affect its financial position or broader group operations. Management is actively taking legal steps to address the issue efficiently.
Delfi Latvia remains a major player in the Baltic media landscape, generating €5.5 million in revenue and €594,281 in profit in 2024. The company continues to meet all contractual obligations, including state-funded media projects, underscoring its ongoing operational stability despite the dispute.
Context & Implications: While disputes over advertising contracts are common in media and tech sectors, the claim highlights the need for clear invoicing and contract management. Competitors and stakeholders are likely to watch how such disputes are resolved, as they can set precedents for commercial accountability in the Baltic media market.
