HubSpot and OpenAI are expanding their partnership with a new integration that lets businesses create, manage and measure ChatGPT advertising campaigns directly inside HubSpot, connecting an emerging AI advertising channel with CRM data and attribution.
The integration marks a notable shift in how AI-native advertising is being folded into existing marketing technology stacks. Rather than requiring businesses to manage ChatGPT Ads through a separate advertising interface, HubSpot users can now connect their ChatGPT Ads account, build campaigns and review performance alongside other advertising channels.
HubSpot says it is the first CRM to integrate with ChatGPT Ads. The capability is being offered in public beta, with HubSpot documentation showing that users can create campaign creative, configure targeting, set budgets and schedules, and monitor performance from the HubSpot Ads dashboard.
The integration also connects advertising activity to HubSpot’s CRM records. According to HubSpot’s documentation, advertisers can attribute ChatGPT ad engagement to contacts and deals, while conversion signals from HubSpot can be sent back to ChatGPT to help optimize targeting.
That closed-loop architecture is arguably more significant than simply adding another advertising destination.
For years, marketers have managed search, social, display and other channels through increasingly fragmented technology stacks. Each channel can have its own campaign interface, audience data, reporting and attribution model. Connecting ChatGPT Ads to the CRM instead puts customer and revenue information closer to the campaign-management layer.
OpenAI is building ChatGPT into an advertising environment at the same time that the product is becoming an increasingly important interface for discovery. OpenAI said its September 2026 advertising updates are designed around people using AI to discover products, compare options and make decisions, while new integrations with HubSpot and Shopify bring advertising capabilities into tools businesses already use.
For advertisers, this creates a new version of an old search-advertising question: how should brands reach consumers when discovery happens inside a conversational AI interface rather than a conventional search-results page?
HubSpot’s answer is to connect the new channel to its existing CRM infrastructure.
The company’s updated ChatGPT connector also expands beyond basic CRM access. HubSpot says users can run email campaigns, create landing pages, analyze closed-won deals, review lead progression and work on answer engine optimization (AEO) from within ChatGPT. HubSpot reports that weekly active users of its ChatGPT CRM connector have grown 250% since launch, although that figure is a company-reported usage metric rather than an independent industry measurement.
The AEO component is particularly relevant as marketers begin optimizing for AI-generated answers alongside conventional search rankings. HubSpot’s documentation says its AEO tools can monitor how brands appear in answer-engine responses and provide recommendations for improving visibility.
The result is a broader convergence of paid and organic visibility inside AI interfaces. A company can use HubSpot to examine how it appears in answer engines, create content and landing pages, run ChatGPT advertising campaigns and connect resulting engagement to CRM activity.
That puts HubSpot into a developing competitive field that includes Google, Microsoft, Salesforce, Adobe and other marketing platforms adapting to AI-mediated customer journeys. The competitive question is increasingly not simply who offers an AI assistant, but which platforms can connect AI discovery with customer data, media activation and measurable revenue outcomes.
There are also practical limitations. The ChatGPT Ads integration is currently in beta, and businesses need a ChatGPT Ads account and appropriate HubSpot permissions to use it.
HubSpot and OpenAI are also promoting an AI Growth Bundle for eligible new customers, including discounted HubSpot Starter access, ChatGPT Business seats and a limited-time ChatGPT advertising credit. The commercial offer is separate from the underlying advertising integration and comes with eligibility and geographic conditions.
For SMB marketing teams, the bigger development is the attempt to make an AI advertising channel behave like an extension of the existing marketing stack. If conversational AI becomes a meaningful part of product discovery, integrating advertising, CRM context and revenue attribution could become an important part of how businesses manage that new channel.
Market Landscape
The advertising ecosystem is moving from traditional search and social interfaces toward a more fragmented discovery environment that includes AI assistants. OpenAI’s September 2026 advertising update explicitly positions ChatGPT as an AI-centered advertising platform and introduces integrations with HubSpot and Shopify as part of that strategy.
The HubSpot integration addresses a central AdTech challenge: measurement across a new media environment. Its ability to associate ChatGPT ad interactions with contacts, customers and deals gives advertisers a way to evaluate the channel using CRM-based outcomes rather than relying solely on impressions and clicks.
The development also reflects the convergence of AdTech and MarTech. Campaign activation, CRM data, AEO, lead management and attribution are increasingly being brought into connected platforms. For enterprise and SMB advertisers alike, the value of AI advertising will ultimately depend on audience quality, incremental reach, conversion performance, privacy controls and transparent measurement—not simply access to a new inventory source.
