DoubleVerify Adds AI to Media Measurement DoubleVerify Adds AI to Media Measurement

DoubleVerify is adding a conversational AI interface to its media measurement platform, giving advertisers and agencies a natural-language way to interrogate campaign data and move from performance signals to recommended actions.

The company announced Ask Neura on September 17, describing it as a new experience built into DV Pinnacle. Rather than requiring users to work through predefined reports, the tool allows them to ask questions about campaign effectiveness across invalid traffic, brand suitability, viewability, geographic alignment and attention. Ask Neura can also explain unusual changes, summarize findings and direct users toward relevant dashboards.

The significance is less about conversational search itself than where DoubleVerify is applying it: the measurement and optimization layer of advertising. Measurement platforms have traditionally required analysts and traders to interpret dashboards, compare metrics and determine which campaign changes should follow. A natural-language interface can reduce that friction, potentially allowing more members of an advertising organization to interrogate performance data without knowing the underlying reporting structure.

DoubleVerify says Ask Neura is powered by DV Neura, its AI engine within the DV Media AdVantage Platform. The company has also introduced a DV Neura Insight Agent that analyzes media-quality and performance data to generate insights and recommendations. A separate DV Neura Activation Agent is planned to execute approved campaign changes within advertiser-defined guardrails, although the company says that capability is expected in the coming months rather than being generally available with the announcement.

That distinction matters. Ask Neura is available as an analytical interface, while autonomous activation represents a further step in the agentic advertising model. The latter moves beyond answering questions toward allowing software to act on campaign settings after an advertiser has established permissions and constraints.

DoubleVerify is also opening the measurement layer to external AI interfaces. Customers can connect third-party conversational AI tools, including Anthropic’s Claude, through the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to access DV data, insights and recommendations. That approach makes the company’s measurement intelligence less dependent on a single user interface and potentially allows advertisers to incorporate DV data into broader AI workflows.

The development arrives as advertising measurement is under pressure to become faster while remaining transparent. The Interactive Advertising Bureau’s 2026 Measurement Leadership Summit identified a growing gap between the speed at which AI can analyze, optimize and execute media and the industry’s ability to measure those actions. The organization also highlighted the need for measurement systems to disclose uncertainty and limitations when AI-generated recommendations influence decisions.

IAB’s September 2026 outlook provides another indication of the challenge: 86% of surveyed U.S. advertising buyers said they were changing or expected to change how they measure media performance because of conversational AI tools and AI agents over the following 12 months. The survey covered more than 200 brand and agency investment decision-makers, so the figure reflects that surveyed population rather than the entire advertising market.

For advertisers, the emerging model could compress the path from measurement to action. But the quality of that workflow will depend on data integrity, explainability, permissions and human oversight. Ask Neura therefore represents a broader shift in AdTech measurement: conversational AI is becoming an interface for campaign intelligence, while agentic systems could eventually turn those insights into controlled execution.

Market Landscape

Advertising measurement is moving toward systems that can provide insights faster while handling increasingly fragmented media data. IAB’s 2026 Measurement Leadership Summit identified AI-driven analysis, natural-language dashboard queries, anomaly detection and automated reporting as emerging ways AI can accelerate measurement workflows. It also emphasized transparency around uncertainty and limitations.

The broader shift is particularly relevant as advertisers adopt conversational and agentic AI. IAB’s September 2026 Outlook found that 86% of surveyed buyers were changing or expected to change their media-measurement approaches because of conversational AI tools and AI agents within 12 months. The study surveyed more than 200 brand and agency investment decision-makers.

At the same time, IAB’s Project Eidos is focused on modernizing advertising measurement around areas including attribution, incrementality and marketing mix modeling. The initiative reflects an industry effort to improve consistency and confidence in measurement as media and consumer journeys become more complex.

Against that backdrop, Ask Neura represents the interface layer of measurement modernization: the data already exists, but AI changes how users access, interpret and potentially act on it.

Strategic Outlook

The strategic development has three distinct stages:

  • Natural-language analysis: Users can question campaign data without relying exclusively on predefined reports.
  • AI-generated recommendations: The DV Neura Insight Agent can identify patterns and recommend areas for action.
  • Controlled activation: The planned Activation Agent would execute approved campaign changes within advertiser-defined guardrails.

For advertisers and agencies, the potential benefit is faster movement from campaign anomaly to investigation and optimization.

For measurement providers, AI creates an opportunity to make complex datasets more accessible while increasing the importance of explainability.

For media buyers, automated recommendations could eventually shorten optimization cycles, but only if the underlying measurement methodology and data remain reliable.

The biggest issue is therefore not whether an AI system can answer a campaign question. It is whether advertisers can understand why an answer was produced, determine whether the recommendation is statistically and commercially meaningful, and retain appropriate control over any resulting action.

That concern aligns with IAB’s current focus on decision-ready measurement, transparency and responsible use of AI-generated recommendations.
