Sovrn and Multilocal Expand Programmatic Curation Sovrn and Multilocal Expand Programmatic Curation

Sovrn and Multilocal have partnered to expand programmatic supply curation across the Sovrn Ad Exchange, combining Sovrn’s publisher supply and commerce signals with Multilocal’s curation intelligence engine, cureon®. The arrangement is focused on planning, activating and optimizing private marketplace (PMP) deals for advertisers and agencies.

The partnership reflects a broader shift in programmatic buying toward curated supply, where buyers increasingly seek specific combinations of inventory, audience data and contextual signals rather than relying solely on broad exchange access.

Curation Becomes an Intelligence Layer

Under the agreement, cureon will operate as an intelligence and enabling layer for Sovrn’s curated deals. Multilocal says the technology helps determine how supply, data and signals should be combined, translates those decisions into executable deals and continuously evaluates performance after activation.

Sovrn brings its Ad Exchange and publisher-side infrastructure to the arrangement. The company describes its exchange as an omnichannel advertising pipeline supporting web, mobile app and CTV inventory, alongside PMP deals, curated packages and commerce audiences.

The combination gives buyers a mechanism for accessing curated packages built around Sovrn’s supply and proprietary commerce-related signals, while Multilocal contributes technology intended to make the curation process more systematic.

Commerce Signals Add Another Layer to Supply Curation

Sovrn has previously developed Commerce Audiences using purchase behavior and online engagement signals. The company says its commerce business works with more than 50,000 retailers and that these signals can be used to identify consumers demonstrating purchase intent.

Bringing those signals into curation changes the role of an SSP from simply providing inventory access toward helping define which combinations of inventory and data should reach the buyer.

For agencies and advertisers, the potential enterprise use case is more structured supply selection. Instead of evaluating individual publishers, audiences and signals separately, curated PMP deals can package those inputs into an activation-ready buying path.

Market Landscape

Programmatic curation has become an increasingly important part of supply-chain optimization as advertisers and agencies look for greater control over inventory quality, data relevance and the paths through which media is purchased.

Multilocal’s cureon platform is explicitly designed to connect planning, activation and optimization across multiple SSPs and supply partners. The company says its technology evaluates inventory, data and supply paths before campaigns launch and can continue optimizing campaigns during flight.

The Sovrn partnership therefore extends a model already developing across the programmatic ecosystem: SSPs provide supply and signals while specialist curation platforms apply additional intelligence to determine how those assets should be packaged for demand.

The approach also has implications for publishers. Sovrn’s exchange is designed to help publishers monetize web, mobile and CTV inventory, while curated deals can give selected inventory more direct exposure to buyer demand.

Strategic Outlook

The more significant development is the movement of curation from a static deal-packaging exercise toward an ongoing optimization process.

For buyers, the value of that model will depend on whether curated deals deliver sufficiently differentiated supply, useful audience signals and measurable campaign performance. For publishers, greater demand for curated inventory could create another route to premium monetization, although the economics will depend on deal structure and buyer adoption.

The partnership also illustrates how commerce data is becoming increasingly connected to programmatic supply decisions. When purchase-intent signals are combined with publisher inventory, curation can potentially move closer to business-outcome-oriented media buying rather than treating audience and supply as separate inputs.

Sovrn and Multilocal’s agreement consequently sits within a broader restructuring of the programmatic supply chain, where intelligence increasingly determines which inventory reaches buyers before the auction begins.
