Cineverse is expanding its ad-supported streaming footprint on Amazon Fire TV with the launch of eight video podcasts and a broader lineup of free ad-supported television (FAST) channels. The move brings podcast video content and established streaming properties into a connected-TV environment where content distribution and advertising inventory increasingly overlap.
The launch is particularly relevant to the advertising ecosystem because Cineverse is positioning video podcasts as part of its ad-supported video portfolio rather than treating podcasting as an audio-only business. The company said this represents its first major distribution of ad-supported video-on-demand podcasts, or VODcasts, through Fire TV.
Video Podcasts Move Further Into CTV
The initial VODcast lineup includes Bad Movies Rule!, Mohr Stories with Jay Mohr and The Stand Comedy Club Presents: 10 for 10, alongside programming from Cineverse’s broader podcast network.
The distribution gives these programs access to television-oriented viewing environments without requiring users to download an application, register or pay a subscription fee, according to Cineverse.
That distribution model matters for advertisers because video podcasts can increasingly function as both podcast content and digital video inventory. Edison Research reported in June 2026 that 82% of weekly U.S. podcast consumers were actively watching video podcasts, compared with 78% who were listening to audio-only podcasts.
The development potentially gives publishers and content owners another route for extending podcast audiences into CTV and OTT environments while creating additional opportunities for video advertising.
FAST Adds More Ad-Supported Inventory
Cineverse is also making several FAST channels available through Fire TV, including The Bob Ross Channel, Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan, GoPro Channel, HISTORIAN, JoySauce TV, Real Madrid TV and Yu-Gi-Oh!.
FAST services rely on free access supported by advertising, making channel distribution a direct part of the OTT advertising supply ecosystem. The model also allows content owners to monetize libraries and niche audiences without relying entirely on subscription revenue.
For advertisers, the expansion of FAST inventory can create more opportunities to reach viewers across connected-TV environments. For Cineverse, bringing podcasts and FAST channels into the same distribution environment creates a broader portfolio spanning episodic television programming, entertainment franchises and creator-led video.
Market Landscape
The expansion arrives as digital video continues to absorb a growing share of advertising investment. The Interactive Advertising Bureau projects U.S. digital video advertising spending will exceed $80 billion in 2026, representing 11% year-over-year growth. The category includes CTV, online video and social video.
Podcasting is also becoming more closely connected to the broader digital advertising market. IAB/PwC data cited by Sounds Profitable puts U.S. podcast advertising revenue at $2.9 billion in 2025, up 17.6% year over year, while total digital audio advertising reached $8.4 billion.
Those trends are narrowing the distinction between traditional podcast distribution and video-based advertising. As more podcast audiences watch rather than only listen, content owners can repurpose programming across screens while giving advertisers additional video environments.
Strategic Outlook
Cineverse’s Fire TV strategy illustrates how podcast networks can become part of the broader OTT supply chain. The immediate opportunity is not simply additional distribution; it is the creation of more ad-supported video inventory from content that previously centered on audio consumption.
For agencies and advertisers, the growth of VODcasts and FAST programming adds another layer to an already fragmented CTV market. Audience scale, content quality, inventory availability and measurement will determine how effectively these environments compete for programmatic and direct advertising budgets.
For publishers and entertainment companies, meanwhile, the model demonstrates the value of extending existing intellectual property across multiple ad-supported formats. Podcast episodes, FAST channels and other streaming assets can become interconnected components of a wider monetization strategy.
The key question for the market will be how efficiently this expanding inventory can be packaged, measured and bought alongside other CTV and digital video supply.
