Intent IQ Launches BidPulse to Measure Programmatic ID Accuracy

Intent IQ Launches BidPulse ID Accuracy Tool Intent IQ Launches BidPulse ID Accuracy Tool

Intent IQ has introduced BidPulse, a patent-pending methodology designed to measure the geographic accuracy of online identifiers used in programmatic advertising bid requests. The platform gives advertisers, publishers and ad technology providers a way to compare identity signals across providers, addressing a measurement gap that can affect audience targeting, frequency capping and attribution.

Available at bidpulse.org, BidPulse uses bid-request geolocation and historical location data associated with matched identifiers to assess whether an identifier is likely to represent a household near the location generating the request. Intent IQ says the platform provides continuously monitored results and historical data dating to January 1, 2026.

The launch puts identity resolution quality under greater scrutiny as programmatic advertising depends on identifiers to connect bid requests with audience information. Incorrect identity associations can cause advertisers to bid on impressions based on a household or audience that is not actually represented by the underlying request.

Market Landscape

Identity resolution and ID bridging help advertising platforms connect identifiers across devices, environments and data sources. These connections can support audience targeting, cross-device measurement and frequency management. Their value, however, depends on whether the associations accurately represent the intended individual or household.

BidPulse evaluates identity accuracy by comparing the reverse-IP geolocation of a bid request with the preceding 30 days of location history associated with the matched identifier or a cookie synchronized with it. When sufficient history exists and the identifier has not appeared within the specified geographic radius, the methodology classifies the association as inaccurate.

Intent IQ uses a 100-mile radius as its primary benchmark, citing the need to account for potential variations in IP geolocation. The platform also reports results at 50-mile and 25-mile thresholds, allowing users to examine how measured accuracy changes under narrower geographic criteria.

This approach provides a specific test of geographic consistency, rather than a universal assessment of identity quality. Location discrepancies can indicate a mismatched household, but legitimate travel, network routing, shared connections and limitations in location data may also affect the interpretation. The methodology therefore needs to be considered alongside its assumptions and validation limits.

BidPulse Measures Accuracy Through Two Scores

The platform uses two complementary metrics. The Strict Accuracy Score classifies a bid request as inaccurate if any identifier associated with a provider falls outside the selected geographic threshold. The Proportional Accuracy Score measures the share of a provider’s identifiers within a request that meet the threshold.

In results reported by Intent IQ for August 12 through October 10, 2026, at the 100-mile threshold, the company recorded a Strict Accuracy Score of 91.1% and a Proportional Accuracy Score of 96.7%. LiveIntent recorded 37.9% and 44.6%, respectively, while ID5 recorded 34.3% and 35.1%.

At the 25-mile threshold, Intent IQ reported scores of 88.4% and 95.0%, compared with 28.6% and 34.1% for LiveIntent and 25.8% and 26.5% for ID5.

These figures are company-reported findings, not independently established industry-wide benchmarks. Intent IQ says an external software expert implemented the methodology using its data to replicate the results, but the announcement does not identify the expert or describe a broader independent audit of the underlying data and provider comparisons.

Strategic Outlook

BidPulse could give buyers and sellers a shared reference point for evaluating identity resolution, particularly where multiple identifiers are attached to a single bid request. Its Strict Accuracy Score highlights the risk that one questionable identifier could affect an entire bid, while the Proportional Accuracy Score shows how much of the identifier set meets the geographic test.

For advertisers and agencies, the findings raise questions about how identity quality should factor into audience strategy, media efficiency and measurement. Publishers and supply-side platforms may also have an interest in understanding how identifiers attached to their inventory are evaluated by downstream buyers.

However, geographic consistency alone does not establish whether an identifier correctly represents a person, device or household in every context. Buyers should assess BidPulse alongside other validation methods before using its scores to make provider-selection or media-buying decisions.

Making historical and ongoing results available could encourage greater transparency in identity resolution. The initiative’s broader industry value will depend on whether other providers participate, whether the methodology receives independent scrutiny and whether its measures prove useful across different advertising environments.

Top Insights

  1. Identity measurement: BidPulse evaluates geographic consistency in identifiers attached to programmatic bid requests.
  2. Two accuracy metrics: Strict and Proportional scores measure different aspects of identifier reliability.
  3. Provider comparisons: Intent IQ reports higher scores than LiveIntent and ID5 in its published results.
  4. Industry transparency: Historical data and ongoing monitoring offer a basis for tracking reported accuracy over time.
  5. Validation remains important: Geographic accuracy is one indicator, not a comprehensive measure of identity quality or advertising performance.
