South Korea is strengthening its role as a launchpad for global technology innovation, with the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) announcing CES Asia Unveiled Seoul, a new event designed to connect Korean technology companies with international investors, buyers and media ahead of CES 2027.
The event will take place during the Korea Electronics Show (KES) from October 13–16 at the COEX Convention & Exhibition Center in Seoul. Organized by CTA in partnership with the Korea Electronics Association (KEA), it will give Korean companies preparing for CES a platform to preview technologies expected to reach the global stage in Las Vegas.
The Consumer Technology Association, the organization behind CES, is expanding its presence in Asia with CES Asia Unveiled Seoul, positioning South Korea as an important stop in the technology industry’s road to CES 2027.
The event is being organized with the Korea Electronics Association as part of KES and will bring together technology innovators, exhibitors, startups, investors and media. The focus will be on Korean companies preparing to showcase products and technologies at CES in Las Vegas.
The initiative reflects the growing importance of Korea within the global technology ecosystem.
South Korea is already a major force across semiconductors, consumer electronics, artificial intelligence, mobility and digital health, with companies such as Samsung, LG and SK Hynix operating at the center of several technology supply chains.
For CTA, building a stronger connection between Korean innovators and the CES ecosystem provides a way to extend engagement beyond the annual Las Vegas event.
Korea was one of CES’s strongest international markets in 2026, with more than 13,000 attendees traveling to CES 2026, according to CTA. The Korea Electronics Association also exhibited at the event and helped connect Korean companies with international customers, investors, partners and media.
That existing participation gives CES Asia Unveiled Seoul a ready-made technology ecosystem to build around.
Rather than functioning as another large-scale trade show, the Seoul event is positioned as a preview and networking platform. Korean companies preparing for CES 2027 will have an opportunity to demonstrate their technology before a local and international audience while creating relationships ahead of the January event.
That could be particularly valuable for startups.
CES remains an important discovery platform for emerging technology companies looking for investors, distribution partners and global media attention. A smaller preview event can give startups an additional opportunity to refine their messaging and establish relationships before exhibiting in Las Vegas.
The event also comes at a time when Korea’s technology industry is expanding beyond its traditional strengths in electronics and semiconductor manufacturing.
AI is now central to the country’s technology strategy, while mobility, robotics, digital health and connected devices are creating new areas for Korean companies to compete internationally.
The country’s semiconductor position is especially important. Companies such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix are major suppliers to the global memory market, while Korea has been increasing investment in AI infrastructure and advanced semiconductor technologies.
That industrial foundation gives Korean consumer technology companies an advantage as devices increasingly depend on AI processing and connected infrastructure.
CES itself has increasingly become a platform for showcasing these intersections. Artificial intelligence now touches everything from automotive technology and robotics to smart homes, health devices and entertainment.
CTA President and CEO Kinsey Fabrizio said the partnership with KEA would build momentum toward CES 2027 while highlighting Korea’s contribution to technology and innovation.
For KEA, the partnership provides another channel for Korean companies to reach international markets.
That internationalization component is important because Korea’s technology ecosystem combines enormous multinational companies with a large network of suppliers, startups and research organizations. Connecting those layers to international customers can help smaller technology companies move beyond the domestic market.
The event may also strengthen the relationship between CES and the broader Asian technology ecosystem.
CTA plans additional engagement in the region, including participation in CES Asia Unveiled Hong Kong, where its leadership will meet innovators, business leaders and media ahead of CES 2027.
The broader strategy suggests CES is increasingly treating its global community as a year-round network rather than a single annual exhibition.
That matters for the companies exhibiting at CES. Technology launches increasingly require relationships with investors, distributors, enterprise buyers and media before the product reaches a trade-show floor. Regional events can create those connections earlier in the commercialization cycle.
For Korean technology companies, Seoul provides a particularly strong environment for that strategy.
The country combines a sophisticated consumer market, advanced connectivity, major semiconductor manufacturing capabilities and globally recognized electronics companies. It is also becoming an increasingly important center for AI startups and digital-health innovation.
The challenge will be turning visibility into international business.
CES participation can generate attention, but sustained global expansion requires distribution, partnerships, regulatory readiness and scalable commercial operations. Events such as CES Asia Unveiled Seoul can facilitate those relationships, but the companies themselves will need to convert exposure into business opportunities.
Still, the initiative underscores Korea’s position in the global technology pipeline.
With CES 2027 scheduled for January 6–9 in Las Vegas, the Seoul event will give the industry an early look at the technologies and companies likely to compete for attention at the world’s largest consumer technology gathering.
For investors, enterprise buyers and media organizations, it also offers a preview of where Korean innovation is heading next—and how the country’s technology ecosystem is positioning itself for global expansion.
Market Landscape
South Korea occupies a strategically important position in the global technology market.
Its influence spans semiconductors, consumer electronics, displays, telecommunications, automotive technology, AI and digital health. Samsung, LG and SK Hynix are among the country’s best-known global technology companies, while a growing startup ecosystem is expanding into robotics, AI software and connected devices.
The country’s importance to CES is therefore broader than exhibitor numbers. Korean companies participate across many of the technology categories increasingly defining the show.
The rise of AI is also strengthening Korea’s position. AI-enabled devices require advanced processors, memory, connectivity and software, linking the country’s semiconductor expertise with the next generation of consumer technology.
For technology companies, CES remains an important international business-development channel. Regional preview events such as CES Asia Unveiled Seoul can make that ecosystem more accessible by connecting companies with partners before the main event.
The development also reflects a wider shift in technology trade shows toward year-round ecosystems, where events increasingly function as networking, investor and commercialization platforms rather than simply product exhibitions.
