Play.Works Brings Ben Azelart’s Creator Content to Prime Video and VIZIO FAST

The line between YouTube entertainment and traditional television continues to blur as creator content moves deeper into connected-TV ecosystems. Play.Works is expanding Ben Azelart’s programming to FAST channels on Prime Video and VIZIO’s WatchFree+, giving the creator’s 50-million-plus YouTube subscriber audience another way to access his content while giving streaming platforms more digital-native programming.

Creator Content Moves Further Into the FAST TV Ecosystem

The creator economy is no longer confined to social platforms.

Play.Works has announced that content from creator Ben Azelart is expanding to FAST channels on Amazon’s Prime Video and VIZIO’s WatchFree+, extending his programming from YouTube into the connected-TV environment.

Azelart has built an audience of more than 50 million YouTube subscribers with challenge videos, pranks, stunts and entertainment centered around collaborations with friends. The new distribution gives that audience another viewing option while placing creator-led programming inside two established streaming television ecosystems.

For the FAST market, the move is part of a broader shift. Free ad-supported streaming television has become a significant distribution channel for content that might previously have been categorized as either digital video or traditional television. Creator programming is increasingly becoming part of that mix.

The attraction is straightforward: creators arrive with audiences already accustomed to consuming their content, while FAST platforms gain programming designed around digital viewing habits.

FAST Gives Creators a Second Screen Strategy

YouTube remains the primary home for much creator content, but connected TV offers a different viewing environment.

Watching creator programming on a television can turn short-form or digitally produced entertainment into a more conventional lean-back experience. Viewers do not necessarily need to search for individual videos or follow a creator’s social feed. A dedicated channel can instead organize programming into a continuous stream.

That distinction is important for FAST channels, which operate more like linear television while being delivered through internet-connected devices.

The format also creates a different advertising opportunity.

On social video platforms, advertising is typically integrated around individual pieces of content and personalized feeds. FAST channels package content into a scheduled viewing experience where advertising can be inserted into a television-like stream.

For creators and content distributors, that potentially creates another monetization layer. For streaming platforms, creator channels can provide programming that is already familiar to large online audiences.

Play.Works says the Azelart expansion builds on its distribution across AVOD, SVOD and FAST, reflecting an approach in which creator content can move between multiple digital video business models.

Prime Video and VIZIO Add Creator Programming to the Living Room

The choice of Prime Video and WatchFree+ also highlights how creator content is spreading across different connected-TV environments.

Amazon’s Prime Video operates across a broad streaming ecosystem, while VIZIO’s WatchFree+ is built around free ad-supported viewing on VIZIO devices.

For Play.Works, distributing the same creator-led programming across multiple services reduces dependence on a single platform and expands the number of places where audiences can encounter the content.

This is increasingly important as the streaming market becomes more fragmented.

A creator with tens of millions of followers may have enormous reach on a social platform but still face limitations when audiences want to watch through a television interface. FAST distribution can bridge that gap.

It also gives advertisers another route into creator audiences.

Creator-Led FAST Could Become a Distinct Programming Category

Traditional television has long been organized around genres such as sports, news, movies and scripted entertainment. FAST platforms are creating a much broader programming environment, with channels increasingly built around niche interests, franchises, personalities and digital-first content.

Creator-led channels fit naturally into that model.

The programming already has an identifiable personality and audience. That can make it easier for platforms to package the content into a recognizable channel proposition rather than treating individual videos as isolated pieces of inventory.

The model also resembles the evolution of FAST and AVOD more broadly. Streaming services need large volumes of programming to keep viewers engaged, while advertisers need scalable video inventory. Creator content can potentially satisfy both requirements when the audience is large enough.

The economics, however, depend on more than subscriber counts.

FAST channels compete for viewing time, and digital creators must adapt their content to longer, television-oriented sessions. Platforms also need reliable metadata, scheduling, ad insertion, measurement and content rights management to turn creator libraries into functioning television channels.

That creates an opening for distribution companies such as Play.Works, which can sit between creators and the increasingly complex CTV ecosystem.

The Advertising Technology Opportunity Is Growing

For AdTech companies, creator-to-CTV distribution creates another intersection between social video, CTV advertising and FAST monetization.

The advertising value of a creator’s audience can extend beyond the original social platform when the content becomes available through connected-TV services. This could allow advertisers to reach audiences familiar with a creator in a more traditional premium video environment.

It also introduces questions around measurement.

Advertisers increasingly want to understand how audiences move across YouTube, social platforms, FAST channels and CTV apps without counting the same viewers multiple times. Cross-platform measurement and identity therefore become increasingly important as creator programming spreads across distribution channels.

The shift could also benefit publishers and media platforms seeking differentiated inventory. Creator-led FAST channels can offer programming with a built-in audience while avoiding some of the costs associated with commissioning entirely new television properties.

The Creator Economy Is Becoming Part of TV Infrastructure

Play.Works’ Ben Azelart expansion is relatively straightforward, but its broader significance is larger.

The streaming industry is gradually treating creator content as television programming rather than simply social media output. That changes the role of creators, distributors and platforms alike.

For creators, FAST can provide another distribution and monetization channel.

For streaming platforms, creators can supply recognizable, digital-native programming.

For advertisers, the model creates another route to audiences that have historically been concentrated on social video platforms.

And for AdTech vendors, it expands the problem of measuring, targeting and monetizing audiences across an increasingly fragmented video ecosystem.

The next stage of the creator economy may therefore not be about moving audiences from YouTube to television. It may be about making the distinction between the two increasingly irrelevant.

Market Landscape

The FAST market is increasingly absorbing programming from outside traditional television, including creator-led video, digital-first entertainment and niche programming.

The Ben Azelart deal illustrates three broader market trends:

  • Creator-to-CTV distribution: Large creators can extend their audiences from social video platforms into living-room environments.
  • FAST content diversification: Free ad-supported services are expanding beyond traditional television libraries into digital-native programming.
  • CTV monetization: Creator audiences can generate new advertising inventory across FAST and connected-TV platforms.

The model is strategically attractive because it combines existing audience demand with CTV distribution. Rather than building a new audience from scratch, platforms can use creators who already have substantial followings.

The challenge will be converting social-media scale into sustained television viewing while providing advertisers with reliable measurement across platforms.
