Programmatic advertising is becoming more automated, but automation also gives fraudsters more opportunities to manipulate the signals that determine where advertising dollars go. Playdigo is addressing that problem through a new partnership with HUMAN Security, integrating HUMAN’s Ad Fraud Defense technology into its performance and programmatic advertising platform across mobile, connected TV and other digital channels.

Playdigo Integrates HUMAN Security to Tackle Invalid Traffic Across Programmatic Advertising

Playdigo, a performance and programmatic advertising platform serving mobile, connected TV and cross-channel campaigns, has partnered with HUMAN Security to strengthen its defenses against invalid and malicious traffic.

The integration brings HUMAN’s Ad Fraud Defense capabilities into Playdigo’s advertising platform, creating another verification layer between advertiser demand and the inventory available through its marketplace.

The problem is fundamental to programmatic advertising. Automated buying systems can process enormous volumes of bid requests and impressions in milliseconds, but that scale also creates opportunities for bots, spoofed environments and other forms of non-human activity to enter the supply chain.

Invalid traffic, or IVT, can distort campaign metrics by generating impressions, clicks or other interactions without genuine consumer activity. HUMAN describes sophisticated invalid traffic as including automated browsing, false representation, manipulated behavior and other techniques designed to make fraudulent activity resemble legitimate users.

For Playdigo, the partnership is aimed at addressing that problem before and after an advertising transaction.

Moving Fraud Detection Closer to the Bid

According to the companies, HUMAN’s technology provides real-time pre-bid protection designed to identify suspicious traffic before an advertiser commits budget to an impression. Post-bid validation then provides additional visibility into traffic quality after campaigns have run.

That two-stage approach is increasingly important as advertisers demand cleaner signals from programmatic marketplaces.

A pre-bid system can prevent questionable inventory from entering the buying decision in the first place. Post-bid analysis serves a different purpose: it can help identify patterns that were not apparent at the time of the transaction and feed those findings back into campaign optimization.

HUMAN says its Ad Fraud Defense platform can detect and mitigate fraudulent bid requests before bidding while providing inventory analytics after delivery. Its technology is designed to make real-time decisions against suspicious traffic, with the company stating that its pre-bid defense can identify fraudulent bid requests in under 12 milliseconds.

For Playdigo, this means fraud protection becomes part of the programmatic buying infrastructure rather than a separate reporting exercise performed after campaign completion.

Why Mobile and CTV Make the Issue More Complex

The partnership is particularly relevant to mobile and CTV advertising, two environments where the relationship between an impression and a real person can be difficult to validate.

CTV has introduced new forms of inventory manipulation, including device impersonation and server-side ad insertion spoofing. Mobile advertising faces its own problems, including app spoofing and automated activity designed to generate fraudulent impressions or interactions.

That creates a challenge for advertisers buying across multiple channels. A campaign may appear to deliver strong reach or engagement in aggregate while the underlying traffic quality differs significantly between inventory sources.

Fraud prevention therefore increasingly overlaps with measurement, attribution and optimization.

The broader industry is already moving in this direction. In March 2026, HUMAN announced a similar integration with programmatic advertising company EXTE, combining pre-bid mitigation with post-bid reporting to improve inventory quality.

That pattern suggests fraud detection is becoming a more integrated component of programmatic infrastructure rather than simply a verification step applied at the end of a campaign.

Fraud Prevention Is Becoming an Infrastructure Problem

The economic incentive for fraud remains substantial. HUMAN cites research from Juniper Research estimating that 22% of global ad traffic is fraudulent, with associated losses reaching $84 billion annually.

HUMAN’s own research also illustrates how quickly large-scale fraud operations can expand. Its 2025 research identified the SlopAds operation generating as many as 2.3 billion bid requests per day at its peak, while another operation mapped by its researchers reached 1.4 billion fraudulent ad requests per day.

Those numbers help explain why conventional blacklist-based approaches are no longer sufficient for many programmatic environments. Fraudsters can rotate infrastructure, imitate legitimate devices and manipulate behavioral signals at a scale that makes static rules difficult to maintain.

For advertisers, the consequences extend beyond wasted impressions. Fraudulent activity can contaminate campaign reporting, distort optimization algorithms and make it harder to understand which audiences and inventory sources are actually producing business outcomes.

What It Means for Advertisers and Demand Partners

Playdigo’s integration is ultimately about giving demand partners greater confidence in the inventory they purchase.

Advertisers increasingly expect programmatic platforms to provide more than access to impressions. They want evidence that those impressions represent legitimate opportunities to reach consumers.

That puts pressure on DSPs, exchanges and other advertising platforms to demonstrate how they verify inventory quality.

For enterprise marketing teams, the partnership could reduce some of the operational burden associated with evaluating traffic quality across mobile, CTV and cross-channel campaigns. But fraud detection should not be treated as a substitute for broader supply-path controls, measurement standards or independent verification.

The strongest programmatic strategies will likely combine multiple safeguards: authenticated inventory, transparent supply paths, pre-bid protection, post-bid measurement and continuous monitoring.

Playdigo’s partnership with HUMAN reflects that broader evolution. As advertising becomes increasingly automated, trust has to become automated as well.

The next competitive advantage in programmatic advertising may not simply be who can buy the most impressions. It may be who can demonstrate, with greater confidence, that those impressions represent real opportunities to reach real audiences.

Market Landscape

Ad fraud is evolving alongside the advertising infrastructure it targets. Programmatic buying, mobile applications and CTV have increased the volume and complexity of automated transactions, creating more opportunities for sophisticated invalid traffic.

HUMAN’s research shows that fraud can operate across multiple layers of the advertising ecosystem, from bid requests and impressions to clicks and downstream interactions. Its analysis of LinkedIn’s Audience Network found that 46% of detected invalid clicks in the examined dataset were classified as sophisticated invalid traffic, while 54% were general invalid traffic.

The market is consequently moving toward layered protection rather than relying exclusively on post-campaign fraud reporting. Pre-bid controls, behavioral analysis, post-bid validation and supply-chain transparency are becoming increasingly interconnected.

For platforms competing with larger advertising ecosystems operated by Google, Amazon and Microsoft, demonstrating inventory quality can also become a differentiation point. Verification providers such as HUMAN operate alongside broader ad-tech infrastructure, giving platforms another mechanism for establishing trust with advertisers and agencies.

The direction is clear: advertising performance is increasingly dependent not only on targeting and optimization, but also on the integrity of the data feeding those systems.
