BlueZoo, Google and Poppulo Link AI Video to Retail Ad Metrics

Retail media networks are looking to connect digital advertising exposure with measurable business outcomes inside physical stores. A planned collaboration demonstration from BlueZoo, Google and Poppulo will explore how AI-generated video, digital signage distribution and audience measurement can be combined to evaluate the commercial performance of in-store advertising creative.

The companies announced a joint webinar, scheduled for December 9, 2026, at 8 a.m. PT, titled “Google, Poppulo & BlueZoo: Create, Deliver & Measure AI Video on Digital Signage.” The session will demonstrate a workflow in which retailers generate multiple video advertisements, distribute them across digital signage networks, measure audience impressions and compare those figures with point-of-sale revenue.

The proposed approach addresses a measurement challenge for retail media operators: determining which creative executions perform best when advertisements are displayed across physical locations. Digital signage networks can report content playback, while audience analytics can estimate exposure. Connecting those signals with sales data could give retailers another way to evaluate the commercial contribution of in-store media.

From AI Creative Generation to In-Store Measurement

The demonstration assigns different roles to the three participating companies. Google’s AI video capabilities will be used to turn an initial concept into multiple creative variations. Poppulo will handle content distribution across digital signage networks and track advertisement playback. BlueZoo will measure audience impressions associated with individual video advertisements.

The workflow is intended to help retailers test multiple versions of an advertisement rather than rely on a single creative asset. Retailers could compare the resulting performance indicators and use the stronger-performing variations in subsequent campaigns or as starting points for further creative development.

A central metric in the demonstration is “revenue per impression,” calculated by dividing the revenue generated at point of sale by the number of advertising impressions promoting the product. The companies say this measure can be used to rank different video creatives and inform future deployment decisions.

For retail media networks, the model could help bring creative optimization closer to the measurement practices used in digital advertising. Advertisers increasingly want evidence that media exposure contributes to commercial outcomes, while retailers are seeking ways to demonstrate the value of their in-store advertising inventory.

Retail Media Measurement Faces an Attribution Challenge

The proposed workflow reflects a broader effort to connect physical-world advertising with sales performance. In-store media presents measurement complications that differ from online advertising: exposure may occur near a purchase, but proximity alone does not establish that an advertisement caused the transaction.

Revenue per impression can provide a useful comparative indicator, but its interpretation depends on measurement quality. Audience counting, playback records, product-level sales data, campaign timing and other influences on purchasing behavior all affect the reliability of comparisons. The announcement does not specify whether the demonstration will include controls for baseline sales, differences between store locations or other factors that could influence revenue.

The distinction matters for advertisers evaluating retail media networks. A ratio linking revenue and impressions can help rank creative executions, but it does not independently establish incremental sales or prove that one advertisement caused a higher purchase rate.

Strategic Outlook

The collaboration highlights how AI creative tools could become part of a wider retail media workflow, extending beyond content production into distribution, measurement and optimization.

For retailers, combining playback and audience data with sales information could support more detailed campaign reporting. Advertisers could gain another way to compare creative variations, while signage operators could strengthen their measurement propositions.

The December webinar will offer a demonstration rather than evidence of independently validated campaign results. Its significance will depend on how the participating technologies handle impression accuracy, sales-data matching and the limitations of attributing purchases to individual advertisements.

As retail media expands across physical environments, the ability to connect audience exposure with credible business outcomes is likely to remain a key competitive issue for networks and their advertising technology partners.

Top Insights

  1. AI creative variation: Google’s AI video capabilities will be demonstrated for generating multiple versions from an initial concept.
  2. Signage distribution: Poppulo will demonstrate scalable content delivery and playback tracking across digital signage networks.
  3. Audience measurement: BlueZoo will measure impressions associated with individual video advertisements.
  4. Retail media metric: The proposed revenue-per-impression calculation combines point-of-sale revenue with advertising impressions.
  5. Measurement caveat: Revenue per impression can support comparisons but does not, by itself, prove incremental sales or causal advertising impact.
