Velocity Capital Management has acquired a stake in the combined LV8 and Mirage businesses, bringing a social-first brand services agency and a digital video publishing network under one company. The transaction creates a business spanning brand marketing, creator relationships, content production, audience distribution and owned-media monetization.
Griffin Haddrill, who founded both businesses, will continue as chief executive of the combined company. Financial terms of the investment were not disclosed.
The combination brings together two complementary parts of the digital media value chain. LV8 works with brands on social-first marketing and cultural campaigns, while Mirage operates more than 70 owned content channels across social platforms, free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) and the web.
According to the announcement, Mirage’s media network and content have generated more than two billion views. The combined company intends to use LV8’s brand relationships and agency capabilities alongside Mirage’s publishing infrastructure and distribution network to connect marketing budgets with content creation and audience reach.
Bridging Brand Marketing and Digital Publishing
The deal reflects an effort to bring agency services and owned-media distribution into a single commercial model. Traditionally, brands may work with agencies to develop campaigns, creators to produce content and separate publishers or platforms to distribute it. Combining these capabilities could give advertisers a more integrated route from campaign strategy to content delivery.
For LV8, the combination adds access to Mirage’s existing network of digital video channels. For Mirage, the agency business potentially provides deeper relationships with brands and access to campaign budgets.
The companies describe the combined operation as a platform connecting brands, creators, content, distribution and monetization. Its stated plans include expanding brand strategy, creator partnerships, production and distribution capabilities across the marketing lifecycle.
The model also places greater emphasis on owned media. Rather than relying exclusively on third-party social platforms or external publishers, Mirage’s network gives the combined business a portfolio of channels through which it can distribute and monetize video content.
However, the announcement does not disclose the revenue contribution of individual channels, audience demographics, advertising inventory volumes or the proportion of revenue generated through owned-media monetization.
Investment Signals Continued Interest in Creator and Media Businesses
Velocity Capital Management focuses on the sports, media and entertainment ecosystem. Its investment in the combined LV8 and Mirage operation positions the firm behind a business seeking to connect brand marketing services with digital publishing and creator-led content.
Velocity Partner Erin Edwards described the businesses as complementary and pointed to opportunities to expand the owned-media footprint and deepen relationships with brands and partners.
The company also plans to pursue strategic acquisitions that could accelerate growth across marketing and the creator economy. That strategy could broaden its capabilities in content production, distribution and monetization, although no specific acquisition targets or timetable were announced.
For advertisers, an integrated agency-and-publisher model may simplify access to creative services and distribution. It could also create opportunities for campaigns that combine branded content with audiences reached through owned channels. The commercial value will depend on audience quality, content performance, transparency and the ability to demonstrate outcomes.
Strategic Outlook
The LV8-Mirage combination highlights the continuing convergence of agency services, creator marketing and digital publishing. As brands seek more direct relationships with audiences, businesses that control both campaign execution and distribution may be positioned to offer a broader range of services.
Still, the combined company has not announced a new advertising platform, programmatic buying technology, measurement product or proprietary ad-serving infrastructure. Its differentiation currently rests on the integration of agency relationships and an existing video publishing network.
The investment therefore represents a media-business consolidation and expansion strategy rather than a confirmed technology breakthrough. Its longer-term significance will depend on how effectively the company converts its combined brand relationships, content channels and distribution capabilities into sustainable advertising and media revenue.
