New Tradition Acquires Connell Outdoor, Expands Las Vegas DOOH

New Tradition Acquires Connell Outdoor New Tradition Acquires Connell Outdoor

Out-of-home (OOH) media company New Tradition has acquired Connell Outdoor Advertising, adding 88 static and digital billboard faces to its advertising portfolio and significantly expanding its presence across Las Vegas. The acquisition strengthens New Tradition’s access to high-traffic locations surrounding Harry Reid International Airport, including routes connecting the airport with the Las Vegas Strip and other major destinations.

The transaction also includes two billboard faces near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), extending the company’s existing Los Angeles advertising footprint.

The acquisition gives New Tradition additional inventory in a market where tourism, entertainment and business travel create substantial demand for outdoor advertising. Harry Reid International Airport served nearly 55 million passengers in 2025, according to the announcement, making its surrounding access routes strategically important for advertisers seeking exposure among incoming and departing travelers.

The expanded portfolio also complements New Tradition’s existing digital spectaculars at locations including BLVD, Elara by Hilton Grand Vacations, The Venetian Resort and Westgate Resort and Casino. These placements provide advertising opportunities around the Strip and the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Las Vegas attracted nearly six million convention attendees in 2025, highlighting the market’s importance beyond leisure tourism. The combination of airport access routes, entertainment destinations and convention-related traffic gives advertisers opportunities to reach different audience segments through geographically distributed outdoor campaigns.

Airport Advertising Strengthens Las Vegas Media Coverage

The transaction reflects the continued commercial importance of location-based outdoor media in major tourism and convention markets.

Airport corridors offer advertisers opportunities to reach travelers before they arrive at hotels, entertainment venues and commercial destinations. In Las Vegas, these routes are particularly relevant for hospitality, travel, entertainment, retail, automotive and event-related advertisers.

By combining airport-adjacent billboards with existing Strip installations, New Tradition can offer advertisers a broader range of placements across the visitor journey.

The acquired inventory includes both static and digital billboard faces. This distinction gives media buyers different campaign options: static placements can support consistent brand visibility, while digital inventory can offer greater flexibility for changing creative, campaign messaging and time-sensitive promotions.

However, the announcement does not disclose the exact split between static and digital faces, individual billboard specifications, audience impressions, pricing structures or programmatic buying capabilities.

For advertising agencies, the expanded footprint could provide additional inventory for integrated outdoor campaigns involving product launches, conventions, live events and longer-running brand initiatives.

Market Landscape

The acquisition highlights continued consolidation within the out-of-home advertising sector, where independent media operators can expand their market reach through portfolio acquisitions rather than relying exclusively on new site development.

New Tradition combines Connell’s more than 40 years of Las Vegas market experience and established relationships with hotels, entertainment venues, local businesses and national advertisers with its own broader media platform and commercial relationships.

The transaction also demonstrates the importance of premium physical locations in an increasingly digital advertising ecosystem.

DOOH networks compete partly through location quality, audience exposure, creative flexibility and measurement capabilities. Airport corridors and major entertainment districts offer valuable environments because of their concentration of travelers, visitors and event attendees.

Nevertheless, adding billboard inventory does not automatically establish programmatic DOOH capabilities. The announcement does not confirm integrations with demand-side platforms (DSPs), automated inventory marketplaces or audience-based activation infrastructure.

Strategic Outlook

For New Tradition, the acquisition represents an opportunity to strengthen its position in one of the United States’ most commercially active outdoor advertising markets.

The appointment of Don Krueger, Connell Outdoor’s vice president, also provides continuity in advertiser and property-partner relationships as the acquired portfolio becomes part of New Tradition’s operations.

For advertisers, the expanded inventory could simplify access to airport-adjacent and entertainment-oriented placements through a broader media offering.

The longer-term opportunity will depend on how effectively New Tradition integrates the inventory, develops digital advertising capabilities and demonstrates measurable audience value to media buyers.

As DOOH investment evolves, location quality will remain important, but transparent audience measurement, flexible campaign execution and programmatic accessibility will increasingly influence how advertisers evaluate outdoor media networks.
