Advertising measurement is increasingly moving beyond audience demographics toward questions of context, representation and creative fit. Culture Hive Media Group is expanding that approach through a partnership with responsible AI company Alltold, adding deeper video analysis to its Cultural Relevance Score (CRS).

The collaboration is designed to help advertisers assess whether video creative is likely to resonate with a particular audience before campaigns launch, bringing creative intelligence closer to the media planning and activation process.

Culture Hive’s CRS is intended to measure how closely advertising aligns with its target audience by combining cultural, contextual, creative and media-environment signals. The company says Alltold’s video intelligence will become an additional input into that framework.

The technology analyzes video creative across factors including representation, tone, narrative structure, audience perception and potential bias. That gives advertisers another layer for evaluating creative before committing media budgets.

The shift reflects a broader change in audience strategy. Demographic targeting remains important, but increasingly fragmented media consumption means advertisers are also trying to understand communities built around interests and cultural identities.

A campaign aimed at runners, gamers or sneaker enthusiasts, for example, can reach the intended audience and still perform poorly if its imagery, language or storytelling feels disconnected from that community.

That makes creative relevance a potentially important complement to audience targeting. Rather than asking only whether an advertiser can find the desired audience, marketers can also evaluate whether the creative itself is appropriate for the environment and people it is intended to reach.

Culture Hive says the addition of Alltold’s video intelligence is intended to support this pre-campaign evaluation. Advertisers can use the resulting insights to identify potential creative issues before launch, inform media planning and make decisions about where particular creative may be most appropriate.

For agencies and brand marketing teams, the practical attraction is the possibility of moving some creative evaluation earlier in the campaign lifecycle. Creative changes made before media activation can potentially avoid the cost and operational disruption associated with revising campaigns after launch.

The partnership also illustrates how AI-based creative analysis is expanding beyond automated production. Much of the advertising industry’s attention has focused on generative AI tools that create images, video and copy. Another emerging category uses AI to analyze existing creative and estimate how it may be perceived.

Alltold’s technology adds that analytical layer to Culture Hive’s broader cultural intelligence framework. The company was founded by former Google Research professionals who worked on AI systems involving representation and skin-tone measurement frameworks, including the Monk Skin Tone Scale, which Culture Hive says is also incorporated into CRS.

The approach could be particularly relevant as video becomes more fragmented across connected TV, social platforms, streaming services and digital publishers. A single creative asset can appear across very different media environments, making contextual and cultural considerations harder to evaluate manually at scale.

Still, relevance scoring should be treated as an input into creative and media decisions rather than a definitive prediction of campaign performance. Audience responses can vary by market, context, brand familiarity and execution, and automated assessments cannot fully replace human creative judgment.

The partnership nevertheless points toward a more integrated advertising workflow in which audience intelligence, creative analysis and media planning increasingly inform one another before campaigns go live.

Market Landscape

Advertising technology has traditionally separated audience targeting, creative development and media measurement into different parts of the campaign stack. AI is beginning to connect those functions.

Creative intelligence platforms can analyze existing advertising assets for characteristics that may affect audience perception, while audience and cultural intelligence systems provide context about the communities advertisers want to reach.

This is particularly relevant to video advertising, where meaning is communicated through combinations of dialogue, visuals, tone, pacing, representation and narrative. Connected TV and social video further increase the number of environments in which those signals must be evaluated.

For enterprise advertisers, the opportunity is to bring creative quality and cultural relevance into media planning before significant spend is committed. The challenge is validating that automated scores remain transparent, consistent and useful across different audiences and contexts.
